Gate
Threshold and Range set the gate action. Attack sets the opening time. Hold and Release control closure. Listen solos the detector.
Chicken EQ was only the start
Chicken Strip is a killer, analog-sounding channel strip with the range to build a complete mix. Choose two full compressors from five distinct flavours, move the 10-band Graphic EQ through three useful positions, add Pop Top, Analog Magic or Secret Sauce, and finish with a true-peak limiter. The complete Character and limiter path adds only 68 samples of latency.
Works in REAPER, Cubase, Studio One and Logic Pro. See formats and compatibility.
Hard-core engineering. Easy to use.
Take a channel from raw signal to finished sound in one continuous flow. The processors keep their essential controls, live feedback and saved state in one readable strip.
Threshold and Range set the gate action. Attack sets the opening time. Hold and Release control closure. Listen solos the detector.
Ten musical gain bands cover 31 Hz through 16 kHz against a live spectrum and response curve. Pop Top adds a psychoacoustic lift at three selectable heights.
Each full compressor has five distinct flavours, its own complete control set and a compound Threshold display. Run one, run both or leave both out.
Analog Magic adds harmonic sweetness and familiar warmth. Secret Sauce is the secret weapon for progressively fatter low end and a more finished foundation.
Final trim feeds a true-peak limiter with 64-sample lookahead and program-aware automatic release.
Graphic EQ + Pop Top
All ten faders sit against the source spectrum and resulting response. Individual band power makes comparisons immediate. Pop Top adds its psychoacoustic lift at 10, 20 or 40 kHz.
Fixed centres put the familiar graphic-EQ move under your hand. The curve spans deep fundamentals, midrange shape and upper detail.
The source spectrum sits behind the faders while the response line shows the EQ shape. A complex move reads as one curve.
Individual power controls audition a band in context, and each gain value remains visible with the rest of the shape.
Pop Top places a psychoacoustic lift at 10 / 20 / 40 kHz. The highest setting works through its audible skirt and brings openness beyond a blunt treble boost.
Two compressors. Five flavours each.
Pick a different character for each compressor, use one stage or use both, then decide where the EQ belongs. Each compressor keeps a complete control set, including its own gain-reduction limit.
Five real compressor characters
Clean / Punch / Glue / FET / Opto use distinct detector and timing designs. Their recovery and colour behaviour change with the selected character. Either complete compressor can become any one of them.
Three ordered routes
Run both compressors before the Graphic EQ, split them around it or let the new tone balance drive both stages. Either compressor can be powered off independently.
Control dynamics first, then make the tone decision.
Catch or shape the source, equalise it, then settle the result.
Let the new frequency balance drive both dynamics stages.
The compressor interface
Set Threshold against the level entering the detector, watch the live reduction move against it, then use the outer ring to decide how far that compressor may ever push. The signal meets the decision in the same control. The result moves around it.
Each compressor keeps its own gain-reduction limit up to 24 dB. Turn the outer GRL ring fully left when you want the limit out of the way.
Output Limiter
Sixty-four samples of lookahead give the limiter time to catch true peaks between the samples while preserving the sound in front of them. Set the ceiling after final output trim. Program-aware release follows the depth and activity of the programme.
The measured ceiling holds to within 0.1 dB across every supported sample rate. Latency-aligned bypass keeps comparisons in time.
On the Character panel
Analog Magic gives a source the familiar sweetness and warmth of a great analog path. Secret Sauce makes the foundation fatter and denser. It feels more finished. Use either one, or season with both.
Harmonic sweetness
Switch it on for subtle harmonic texture and familiar analog warmth. MORE takes that proprietary character from barely there to an unmistakably richer, firmer sound.
Low-end weight
One fader makes everything feel more finished. A small amount reinforces the source; further travel builds progressively fatter low end, extra density and a solid mono foundation.
It is the secret weapon you reach for before the mix starts asking what changed.
Hard-core DSP. Light on the session.
The Graphic EQ and both compressors add zero algorithmic latency. Character adds 4 samples. Engage the true-peak limiter and the complete Character-plus-limiter path totals 68.
Chicken EQ is free. This is the full strip.
Chicken EQ gives you focused cut-first equalisation for free. Chicken Strip takes on the complete channel: gate, Graphic EQ, two five-flavour compressors, Analog Magic, Secret Sauce and the true-peak limiter, all inside one fast mixing workflow.
